of fruits and veggies keeps your body healthy! The water in them keeps your body naturally hydrated. The fiber keeps you full for a longer period of time, so you don't FEEL hungry.The vitamins & minerals help maintain healthy skin and a healthy body. All together their is so much "right" about eating the multitude of fruits and vegetables available to us year round, that there is downright something "wrong" about NOT doing it! Add in whole grains and lean proteins and plenty of water, and you CAN be one healthy lil' bugger! You don't have to eat perfectly 100% of the time, that is just plain UNREALISTIC!!! It is what you do MOST of the time that affects your long term health and well being.
Here is a great example of how to get all that good stuff into your diet...presenting...my lunch today:
Purple: grapes
Red: tomatoes
Orange: peppers
Yellow: (had a banana at breakfast!)
Green: sprouts and avocado
The sandwich was yum...a mini whole wheat pita, a Tablespoon of shredded lowfat cheese, a serving of smoked turkey, 1/4 avocado-sliced, 1/2 C. sprouts and 2 slices of tomato
A delish, nutrish lunch to keep this body in motion while training for a race!
